How to Prepare for Your Upcoming Dental Visit

If it’s been a while since your last dental appointment, you may be wondering how to prepare for when you arrive. There’s no reason to stress. If your cleaning and exam is around the corner, we’ll help you prepare for your upcoming dental appointment. There’s no reason to feel worried or stressed (although that’s understandable!). We’ll help you feel at ease the moment you arrive. Here are ways you can prepare:

  • Know Your Route

If it’s your first visit at our practice, make sure you know exactly where the dental office is located and how to get there. Even if you are relying on GPS, knowing what our office looks like and how to find our entrance. You don’t want to lose time finding us and can calculate traffic or parking if driving. Take a look at our tour the office page and become familiar with our location. We’re happy to give you directions if you need them!

  • Complete Paperwork

We’ll need to have you complete paperwork for your first appointment. Completing this information early prevents eating into your actual visit time with your dentist. We’ve made them easy download, so you can do them from home. You’ll have plenty of time to fill out the information and you can give our office a call with any questions you have about the forms.

  • Prep Your Mouth

No need to intensely scrub every tooth right before you come in, but do brush and floss the night and morning before your appointment. This prevents your dentist encountering large food debris that could be easily removed with a cleaning. However, if you are rushing to your appointment and didn’t get the chance to do a fresh cleaning, do understand we’re just happy to see you arrive.

  • Arrive On Time

It seems obvious, but showing up on time is important to our team. Rushing last minute raises stress while also cutting into the time the dental team can spend on your care. Traffic, travel or household snafus happen, but build in at least 15 minutes of buffer so you can take a breath and check in calmly. Your teeth will thank you!

  • Come Prepared with Questions

Sitting in the reclined exam chair is the perfect opportunity to address any oral health questions that have been on your mind. Feeling shy? Write them down beforehand so you remember all your concerns. You can talk about any concerns you have about your teeth, goals related to your smile, and any concerns about pain or discomfort.

Taking a few minutes to organize yourself prior avoids feeling scattered when you arrive. By following these steps, you will feel prepared for your upcoming dental appointment. Also, our team understands if anxiety has kept you away. You’ll feel relaxed in our massage chairs and even sedation options.
